From its outset, Idemitsu Lubricants America Corporation was designed to be a special company - a unique corporation where customer need and efficiency of task, instead of hierarchy and history, would dictate structure. This vision has resulted in a number of innovative elements inherent to the Idemitsu Lubricants America Corporation...

A Truly Unique Company

Employment Postings

Small company with huge infrastructure

ILA has the ideal structure - a smaller, more responsive manufacturing and service unit backed by the extensive resources of Idemitsu. Such a structure means that ILA can work effectively with smaller regional companies, as well as international organizations.

Hybrid Management system

By combining aspects of the Japanese and American management systems, ILA has developed a company that perfectly balances customer demand with associate satisfaction. The result is a higher quality product and a more productive associate base.

Consensus style decision-making

In the ILA corporate structure, all levels of associates are encouraged to provide input to solving problems or improving working systems. In this way, associates take greater ownership in their work, resulting in a higher quality product.

Exercise and company meetings

As is traditional with Japanese-based companies, ILA begins each morning with group exercises and a brief meeting. Associates find the exercise energizes them as they move into the workday, and the meetings keep them apprised of important company issues.

Organized into teams

Instead of a classical top-down structure, ILA creates teams comprised of people responsible for specific tasks in the project. This "team" structure creates a dynamic that results in faster, more unique solutions to customer needs.

Kaizen

ILA’s "ACE" (Associate Commitment & Empowerment) program encompasses the "Kaizen" philosophy. Kaizen is a Japanese word that means ongoing improvement involving everyone. The kaizen philosophy is that all areas, including our working life, our social life, and our home life, deserve to be constantly improved.

Work hard and play hard

ILA expects a lot from its associates, but it also realizes we all need to have some fun, too. It isn’t unusual to have celebration banquets, parties or luncheon cookouts.  Also, associates have periodic get-togethers such as a day at the races, ILA Day at the ballpark, family picnics, team lunches and dinners, and holiday lunches and parties. By getting to know one another better socially, we have found that our team concept also helps us in working together better.

Highly automated

ILA has invested in state-of-the-art automation equipment in order to realize the highest efficiencies possible for production. This helps keep ILA products among the most cost effective in the industry.

Uniforms

By having everyone wear uniforms, ILA has found that associates feel they have a more equitable role with their peers in the success of the company. It also helps to solidify the team approach to production.

Open office

By utilizing an open office structure, ILA has increased communication among team members and teams. This has helped to decrease task duplication.

Bonus Program

All associates at ILA are eligible for company performance bonuses.

Wellness Bonus

Healthy employees are happier, more productive employees. That’s why ILA pays a wellness bonus for all its associates in order to help maintain healthy lifestyles.

Quality Programs

ILA is proud to have received several quality certifications by SGS Systems and Services Certification, Inc. In addition, ILA has received numerous quality awards/certifications from its customers.

The ultimate result of this unique structure is a profitable, growing company with unmatched quality - building a reputation each day as one of the predominant leaders in the lubricant industry.
